Demonstration Day

Today we will be demonstrating different techniques and new products as well as showcasing some of the items which can be made in our workshops. Just call in at any time during the day between 10am -12.30pm and 1pm -3.30pm to see what we’re up to.

We also hope that you might help us to make some ‘Tiny Lives Quilts’. We will have a machine set up and even if you only have half an hour you could do a little bit. These are 20” x16” quilts for special care babies at Carlisle or Gateshead hospitals, they will be displayed at the Creative Crafts Show at Carlisle on October 16th (we will have a trade stand there), before being handed over to the charity ‘tiny lives special care babies’. If you would like to make a quilt at home  they have to be handed in by October 1st but if you would like to drop one off at Reticule by September 28th we could send them altogether.

Christine’s Special Handbag

Over the years a number of people have asked if I would teach them how to make my hand embroidered bag which was the one that really got me started. It’s still my favourite and so I have decided to run a series of classes which will go through the whole process from design to completion. This will take at least 3, possibly 4 sessions with ‘homework’ in between. At the first session, dates will be set for the next 2 sessions to suit the group. An opportunity to make something truly unique.

Wednesday 5th October Full Day 10am – 4pm     £35

Christmas Pinwheel Table Centre

Using a pin wheel template makes this design easier to produce. An ability to use a rotary cutter and the machine is essential but you don’t have to be an expert to make this lovely table centre. You do not have to use Christmas fabrics you could make it to be used all year round. To enable you to complete this and learn how to finish off with quilting and binding, this class will be held over two days.

Monday 31st October ½ day 10am – 12.30pm & Monday 7th November Full Day 10am – 4pm

£47.50 for both sessions

Circle in a Hoop

This is one of my favourite techniques because no two designs are the same. The technique used is to cut back layers of fabric to reveal the colour you want. The first class is only a half day and is the design and preparation session. Don’t panic about design it is extremely easy!!!! The full day class will be the stitching and cutting session. The finished design can be embellished could have a  Christmas Theme
